My London

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Flotilla on the Thames - Tower Bridge in the Background

This is a work in progress – London is enormous and always changing!  And I’ve lived in London for more than 11 years, so I have a lot of favorites, but I’ve tried to keep this list concise.

For something to eat…

Buying at Auction!

I recently made my first furniture purchase at auction.  Very exciting!  We needed a small table for a certain space (more on that another time) and I had looked at a few of the large chain stores, thinking I could get something simple at a decent price.  But everything seemed overpriced and made of MDF (or particle board).  A friend suggested trying out Lots Road Auctions.  What a great idea!

The Liberty Autumn Winter 2011 fabric collection!

As you may well know, Liberty is famous for its gorgeous fabrics.  The Autumn Winter 2011 collection has just been released and my fabric obsession continues!  Inspired by musicians and artists, there are some beautiful pieces here. Some are new designs and some are chosen from the vast Liberty archives.  I’m hoping to learn how to sew very soon in order to start making use of my growing collection of fabrics.  I just can’t resist a pretty piece of cloth, and Liberty’s new collection is no exception.

About

Hello there! Thanks for visiting my blog. I write about interior design and decoration and food and travel and lifestyle. I’m American and I live between Amsterdam and London with my Dutch husband and our little dog from Canterbury.  I like white linens and jazz music and antiques and warm weather and sunshine and handwritten notes on fine paper and cookbooks and fireplaces and champagne and old houses and dogs and cats and horses and white tulips and peonies and all things monogrammed and learning new things and hosting parties and hummus and fresh mint tea and yoga and ballet and buying baby gifts and vegetables fresh from the garden and travel and books with happy endings and the canals of Amsterdam. What do you like?
