I’m American and I live between Amsterdam and London with my Dutch husband and our little dog from Canterbury.  I like white linens and jazz music and antiques and warm weather and sunshine and handwritten notes on fine paper and cookbooks and fireplaces and champagne and old houses and dogs and cats and horses and white tulips and peonies and all things monogrammed and learning new things and hosting parties and hummus and fresh mint tea and yoga and ballet and buying baby gifts and vegetables fresh from the garden and travel and books with happy endings and the canals of Amsterdam. The Title of the Blog
Canal Notes is so named because the idea for the blog came as we were preparing to move from London to Amsterdam. Like most visitors to the Netherlands, I was completely enchanted by the canals and now as a resident, I still am! Also, I liked the connection with New Orleans, which also has canals and Canal Street as one of the main thoroughfares. London has its share of canals too, so the name is a nice link between the three cities I consider home in some way.
