Forest Mural Wallpaper

In Remodelista’s post today, they featured a garden concept shop in Paris called Les Mauvaises Graines, i.e. the Bad Seed. A clever and super cool looking shop with ideas that are probably too edgy for me to implement in my own home, but so interesting to look at, all the same.

The thing that really caught my eye was their forest mural wallpaper:

Sitting here on another rainy day in Amsterdam, this looks especially appealing.  How nice to see the sunlight streaming through the trees!  I can see how this could work near a window, as a way to visually expand a small garden.  Or even outside against the wall of a small urban patio or terrace, if there is a clever way to waterproof it for outdoor use.

I searched online, and the one above appears to be Birch Tree Wall Mural, sold for a very reasonable £59.95 (size is 368 x 254 cm) on WallpaperMurals.co.uk.

They’ve got a pretty wide selection of forest murals as well as beach and mountain scenes and more.  I like the Birch Tree mural above, but here are some of the others that caught my eye:

What do you think?  Is this something you would try?  Do you have any clever ideas for using wallpaper murals?

  1. These are beautiful murals and a great idea! I have looked at some websites that sell these in the U.S., and you can get your own photo printed as a mural. They can also print them on a special material that allows you to remove the mural and reposition or re-hang it many times, which is great if you are afraid of the commitment! I think this is something I would try with the right photo.

  2. Wow! It was the forest mural wallpaper that caught my eye immediately in your first photo! Looks so real!
All of my art is inspired by nature, so it would be fun to do one wall of the studio in the birch tree mural. :)

How fortunate you are to be in Amsterdam! Spent only a couple days there this year but thought it was wonderful!

So nice to meet you through BYW.
    All the best,
    Mary

  3. Thanks, Mary! Nature is such a great inspiration source for art – I’m not an artist, but I find inspiration there too, even if it’s just a reminder to slow down and enjoy life :) Good luck with BYW – I’m finding it really helpful!

P.S. love the photo with your dog – I’m a proud pet parent too :)

  4. I love the murals too! I could see one on the wall of a garage to “dress up” a boring wall. You would need to be careful not to drive into it though!

  5. The murals are absolutely stunning. Shame they are so large that they would not fit into my apartment. With winter coming soon I could certainly use something to brighten the day.

  6. These are incredibly beautiful…although I think it is critical to have them in the right space and with the right light. They give me slightly bad memories of brown forest wallpaper that we found in one of the houses we lived in when I grew up. There was a whole forest scene with deer…all in brown in a dark corner of the house. I felt like someone should just throw some camoflouge on the sofas and the look would be complete. As you can tell still horrifies me! But very very different from this…which I do love.

  7. I love these murals! Such a great way to bring the outdoors in. Thanks for giving ideas on how to use them too. They’d probably be an unexpected feature in a NY city apartment and give some much needed greenery for city dwellers. Maybe also in a cozy study, bathroom with sky light or in a very small room that can’t fit a lot of furniture?

  8. I love the birch trees image – but I’m not sure I’d use it in my house. I think if I was going to use a forest type wallpaper I’d choose a less realistic one. But as an image it is wonderful :)
